Solace House

A conceptual exploration of modern brutalism nestled in a quiet countryside setting. This project features a low-profile, single-story residence characterized by raw concrete walls, expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing, and a seamless transition to a private outdoor oasis featuring a minimalist pool and manicured garden.

Challenge

The main objective was to balance "cold" industrial materials like concrete and stone with a sense of warmth and domestic comfort. I needed to create a layout that felt open and connected to the rugged landscape while ensuring the interior felt intimate, "cozy," and high-end rather than sterile.

Solution

I utilized a palette of warm wood paneling, tactile fabrics, and strategic ambient lighting to soften the concrete structure. The floor plan uses a "glass-wall" approach to pull the garden views into the living areas, while internal zones—like the sunken lounge and minimalist bedroom—use varied textures to define space without needing heavy partitions.

Results

The finished concept is a harmonious "hidden" retreat that celebrates raw architecture. The design successfully maximizes natural light and provides a luxurious, functional escape that feels both grounded in nature and distinctively modern.
